BIRMINGHAM’S RAINBOW VENUES ANNOUNCE MEGA LINE-UP

The Rainbow Venues takes Birmingham to the next level...

Forget Madchester, it’s all about B-Town now. Birmingham’s underground music epicentre has long been Digbeth — more specifically The Rainbow Venues — and the well-loved nightclub has just benefited from an ambitious rebuild.

This includes the creation of a rooftop terrace for Ibiza-style breathers and city views, and new house and techno playground The Blackbox (decked out in strip lights and Martin Audio stacks). Raving in a box in the Midlands has never been so attractive…

The bare brick, graffiti-walled venue recently announced their Autumn programme of events, which goes by the name Imaginarium and promises a “pioneering, 360-degree cultural experience”. Not only that, but a host of quality acts including Derrick Carter, Skream, James Zabiela, Sven Väth, Steve Lawler, plus appearances from the Defected in the House and Cocoon crews.

The Venues have your weekends covered all the way through until New Year’s Day, where Adam Shelton, Davide Squillace, Dungeon Meat (live) and Richy Ahmed will be ensuring 2016 gets off to a good start.

In October, Dusky drop into town (on the 9th) for a five-hour set, helped along by the likes of our last cover star Paul Woolford, and later Shy FX and Amine Edge & DANCE — with Bicep, Mark E and Martyn in the Blackbox. After that it’s a D&B takeover from Hospitality, with Joy Orbison and Fold heading up the box, then the last ever Face with Cassy, Hector, and an unannounced special guest.

Keep an eye out for some of the biggest names on the circuit passing through the Imaginarium, as the venues have all strands of the electronic spectrum represented. Birmingham’s rave calendar just got filled...
