TOKYO CLUB AIR TO CLOSE

New Year’s Eve party to be the club’s swansong

Tokyo club AIR will close its doors for good at the end of this year.

The club made the announcement that its party on 31st December will be its last. No explanation has been given for the unexpected closure.

“For the 14 years following its opening, AIR has walked a long music journey together with all of you, but that journey has finally reached its end,” the statement reads.

“The climax of that journey will be December 31, 2015. It has been decided that AIR will see its final party on New Year's Eve.

From all of the staff at AIR, thank you so much for your support over the years.”

AIR, located in Tokyo’s Daikanyama district, opened in 2001, the venue has since become one of the city’s foremost house and techno clubs. Danny Drivit, Giles Peterson, Todd Terry, and Ben UFO are among the DJs that have taken over the club’s decks.
