SKRILLEX CO-PRODUCES NIGHTMARISH NEW VIDEO

‘Red Lips’ gets some creepy sci-fi visuals

Skrillex has unveiled a new video for his remix of GTA’s ‘Red Lips’ - co-written, produced and edited by himself.

Moving out of the musical remit and into the visual, Skrillex has previously spoken about his own musical productions having visual qualities. This is his biggest video production work to date, with the clip taking six months to complete.

The EDM star has collaborated with director Grant Singer (whose credits include The Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face’), and the video drafts in actress Anna Joy Taylor who battles against some particularly creepy creatures and parallel universe plot twists.

In a recent Pitchfork interview, he revealed that the video was inspired by films like The Cell and The NeverEnding Story.

"The first thing that went through my head when I heard the song is that it starts out kind of pretty, but still dark", he said. "It feels almost schizophrenic. The way Sam Bruno, the vocalist, delivers the song, it feels like she's afraid of something. The idea was, what if this girl was sitting here by herself, and when the key changes in the song, the sky just went black and these creatures come out from behind and it's this nightmare she's running from? It's this girl in your head, and this is what she's seeing."

It’s pretty nuts. Give it a watch below.
