A new category this year where we nominate the jocks who have most sweetly rocked one of our DJ Mag live streams — and there could only be one winner...
Fresh for 2015’s Best Of British is a new award for the best DJ Mag Live Set of the year. For those who aren't up to speed, we spend most weekends zipping between our London HQ, our London basement bar and venues across the planet to film DJ sets for your enjoyment over at youtube.com/djmagtv.

We introduced this category to give props to the incredible UK DJs who bare their skills live and unedited, showcasing the true art of the DJ. With over 100 sets to choose from, sorting out the nominees was a tough call...

After much debate, the nominations included Sam Divine's bumping house groove from Work London, Alan Fitzpatrick's techno rinse from our ADE Showcase at NOVA, Dave Clarke's set from the same venue, Eli & Fur's moody and deep techno selection, and Carl Cox's stonking set from DJ Mag HQ in London. Oh yes oh yes!

The prize, perhaps unsurprisingly, goes to Carl Cox, who got by far and away the most votes. A man who demonstrates the art of the DJ every time he hits the decks, Coxy’s Thursday afternoon set from DJ Mag HQ pretty much turned our offices into a club — and a damn busy one at that!

We partied on desks, fielded constant noise complaints from our neighbours (some people have no respect for dance music royalty, apparently) and basically had a right good jam as Cox took us (and those watching online) on a journey through an uplifting spectrum of house and techno.

After the set it took Coxy about 45 minutes to leave the office, as he posed for photos and chatted with every single person who had blagged their way in to see him play. Cox is an outstanding DJ, an ambassador for our scene and a true gentleman. A much deserved winner!
