The boys from Dixon Avenue Basement Jams have had a seriously good year. The brainchild of cheeky DJ duo Dan ‘Monox’ Lurinsky and Kenny Grieve, aka The Wasp, the label's mantra is simple: no-nonsense club slammers made to make you move.

Running raves in their native Glasgow for over a decade (they’ve been behind legendary party brand Monox since 2000), the pair have signed up promising producers including Big Miz and Denis Sulta in the last year, plus released more music from illusive beat maker, Marquis Hawkes.

“Musically we haven't faced too many challenges, in fact, with such a wealth of amazing artists, the music has been the easy part,” Lurinsky tells DJ Mag, when we ask what's been the toughest challenge of 2015. “Logistics have been the hard part, trying to plan a release schedule has been an absolute nightmare — pretty much all our releases this year were at least two months late."

Tardy vinyl aside, there's no doubt the brains behind DABJ have got one hell of an ear — something they've been applying to their back-to-back DJ sets up and down the country. “Our Subculture takeover at the Sub Club was a highlight. Such an honour and a pleasure to be given the chance to play there once again.

Harri & Domenic are a big influence in Glasgow and we have a lot of respect for them,” says Grieve. “Oh, and Boiler Room was fun and certainly helped open people's eyes to some of our new artists. It's been a year full of highlights, to be honest — just when we thought it couldn't get any better, something else would crop up!”

With such a hugely prolific year behind them, Lurinsky and Grieve seem quietly confident that they can mirror their success in 2016. “Well, we don't want to start talking too far in advance but we have four new releases dropping in January and February,” Lurinsky tells DJ Mag. “We have a couple of big DJ mixes due to be released, as well as our first visit to Helsinki in February!”

“Thanks to everyone for buying our music,” the friendly duo tell us before signing off. “And most of all, thanks to our family of artists for giving us such a great choice of music to release.”
