Miami Madness

Day three at the East coast conference

Nothing is impossible in Miami. A wild iguana crossing the street, stopping traffic? Check! But more significantly, yesterday DJmag was party to arguably the best session of the conference. Imagine a Hawaiian Tiki bar floating on water, add the amazing DJ skills of SOS, and throw in a few margaritas, to taste, and you have the boat party to end them all.

For this was the ultimate in aqua boogie, with Naveen G and Dory warming up the floating funk machine, dropping classy tech house, before the main event of SOS, and the boat departing from the dock into the canals and causeways of Miami.

When Omid, Desyn and Demi hit the decks, we're suitably prepared for some serious rhythms, and accordingly, the trio of beat fiends proceed to drop the ultimate in house. With the sun beating down, we head off into deeper waters to the strains of Aeroplane's cosmic disco, a re-edit of 'Drop It Like It's Hot' and the Cure's 'Lullaby' all impeccably mixed to a massively appreciative crowd.

As we journey further out, the dynamic trio tease us with acid-flecked disco beats, intense progressive synths and lush washes of aquatic groove. With easily the best crowd this side of the East Coast, we whoop and yell and get down with the best of 'em.

The cliché says that when you get on a boat, you can't get off. But we don't want to! When the Tiki boat finally docks, DJmag could easily handle another five hours. Instead we head over to check out the Mobilee crew, interviewing label boss Anja Schneider and grabbing some cool pics along the way. It's another tremendous day in the Floridian capital!
