Friday March 24th

It's been eight days on the road already.

I've been to Guatemala, Monterrey (Mexico), San Diego, LA, Miami and now I'm heading up to Washington DC for a gig at one of my favourite US clubs – Five.

Central America wasn't quite ready to take on my stringy disco flavas, luckily SoCal's peeps were definitely up for them.

Clubs 4th and B in San Diego rocked thanks to the groundwork of the local Siesta music shop and label.

As for LA, it has its legendary Deep Sunday jam where Marques Wyatt
has been uniting the soulful
heads for years. It felt good
to play there.

Yesterday in Miami a major storm bummed the Defected party that was meant to be mostly outdoors.

We all had to gather in a mouldy room with a terrible sound system.

Babs Tucker did a great job putting smiles back on everyone's faces and there was a friendly vibe rolling throughout.

A few new cuts to remember include the forthcoming Yass ft. Torri on Purple, Jamie Lewis feat Michael Watford 'It's Over', and yes my mix of Ron Hall's 'The Way You Love Me' did get a massive reaction.

Saturday March 25th

Yesterday's gig at Five in Washington was rocking, which was surprising as I thought most of the music people would be at the WMC, but it was packed!

I've played there about seven times already and I love the place.

It's an 800 capacity, no frills venue, with a great crowd and the sound system is ace.

I particularly like the old skool DJ booth that is tucked away above the dancefloor.

A few years back I had a great time doing a full nine-hour set there!

The place has been bought by some former promoters who love music, and the staff are really friendly.

It's got a very nice family vibe not unlike Neighbourhood in London, of which I'm also a regular.

I'm now riding the Acela Express train which should really be called the Soul Train!

From Washington, it stops at Baltimore (home of Spen, Basement Boys, Charles Dockins), Philadelphia (O'Jays, MFSB, Harold Melvin), Newark-New Jersey (MAW, Blaze, Tony Humphries), and New York City, home of many a disco and house legend.

It's also where I'm playing tonight, at the newly opened Pacha nightclub.

Sunday March 26th

Pacha in New York was quite nice, the warm-up DJ was playing some pretty dark drone-y stuff (surprise!) but the crowd seemed to enjoy my disco u-turn, phew!

I also got to hang out with my friends from Los Amigos Invisibles, they're a Venezuelan funk band.

They are good friends of mine, and are my musicians of choice on my productions.

They played all the rhythm section on my Ron Hall remix.

I recently co-produced their new album 'Super Pop Venezuela' which features an eclectic collection of groovy Latino sounds, from disco to salsa.

Sunday afternoon I met with a disco legend, Mr Tom Moulton.

A mutual friend introduced us two years ago, and we bonded instantly.

This man casually 'invented' the 12" single in the mid-'70s, mixed 'Love Is The Message', 'Don't Leave Me This Way' and countless classics from Philadelphia and around the world.

He's alive and kicking – and his latest mix is none other than 'The Way You Love Me'!

Now that's the Philly sound!
