Wax Attacks!

Geordie rave promoters Wax:On have pulled off a real coup and launched their very own boutique festival.

On Saturday 31st May, in the palatial confines of Lotherton Hall, Leeds, the first Wax:On Live takes place, and they've secured some top-notch talent to rock the joint. With six arenas, Wax:On's cause is just: to knock other tired festivals into a cocked hat.

Headlining arena one are the massive Primal Scream - the Glaswegian rockers who've contributed more to dance music than many DJs with their Andrew Weatherall-produced classic 'Screamadelica' and disco punk-infused records like 'Vanishing Point' and XTRMNTR'.

Also stepping up are the hotly tipped and deservedly hyped Hercules and Love Affair, a DFA-approved outfit who are wowing all and sundry with their eponymous debut album, drenched in old skool house pianos, stepping synths, irresistible disco bass and the soaring vocals of Antony Hegarty.
Meanwhile, insane electroids Late of the Pier are slated to demonstrate why theirs is the name on everyone's lips at the moment, and further live performances are confirmed from fresh Wall of Sound signings A.Human, Shortwave Set and indie dance hopefuls Friendly Fires.

And as if that's not enough, wait 'til you get a load of the DJs! With arenas from Wall of Sound, Technique, Hospitality and Naïve Melody, there's a brain-befuddling blizzard of selectors on show.
Green Velvet, Erol Alkan, Annie Mac, X-Press 2, Andrew Weatherall, Unabombers, Steve Lawler, Derrick May, Stacey Pullen, Steve Bug, Shy FX, Ed Rush, London Elektricity, DJ Die, Skream, Plastician, Matthew Herbert, Justus Kohncke, I-F, Âme and Dixon are all playing. It's destined to be a killer!

Tickets are priced £39.50, available from waxonuk.com or 07747 150046.
