KANYE WEST AND DEADMAU5 CLASH ON TWITTER OVER PIRACY ALLEGATIONS

The two exchanged insults over Twitter last night (March 2)

Kanye West and Deadmau5 have clashed on Twitter in a dispute over pirated software.

The feud started after the EDM producer called West out for appearing to use a piracy website to download Serum, music-editing software produced by Xfer Records – a label co-founded by Deadmau5.

West inadvertently revealed that he searched popular torrenting site The Pirate Bay for the software in another tab of his internet browser when he tweeted a screenshot of a Sufjan Stevens song.

West’s camp later denied that the computer in question was his own. They claimed that the screenshot was a joke, referring to the rampant piracy of his latest album 'The Life of Pablo'.

In a series of Tweets, West hit back at Deadmau5 by poking fun of his signature mouse-head stage costume, asking if the producer performs at kids birthday parties.

Deadmau5 responded late yesterday evening by calling West an “idiot”.

Both are currently stakeholders in Jay Z’s music streaming service Tidal.
