ELECTRO DONS DIGITALISM ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM 'MIRAGE'

Hamburg duo announce the follow-up to 2011's 'I Love You Dude'...

German electro dons Digitalism have today announced the release of their third studio album, 'Mirage', on May 11th.

Alongside the news of the album, the duo have dropped a trifecta of storming tracks from the album  including 'Battlecry', 'Utopia' and 'The Ism' - and it's some of their best material yet.

The duo  which consists of Jens "Jence" Moelle and İsmail "Isi" Tüfekçi  were, of course, at the forefront of the electro vogue of the mid-noughties alongside Daft Punk, Justice and SebastiAn, and during their time they've built up a formidable reputation as DJs, a live electro act, and as a full-blown band.

This transformantion from DJs to a live act happened at the same time as the duo's second album, 'I Love You Dude', which saw the duo experiment with Jence on vocals, and while it did work, they did seem to lose some of their razor-sharp aesthetic.

Thankfully, it sounds like they've redressed the balance between smooth and abraisive and have got their mojo back. All three tracks are different  'Utopia' is easily the pick of the bunch; steeped in euphoric melancholia it plays out as a glowing romantic electro track, whilst 'Battlecry' is the duo in rowdy band mode, but instead of the warmth of 'I Love You Dude' it's dark, driving and menacing. And the final track, the dark-horse of the bunch, 'The Ism', is the most 'out-there'  a heady blend of compressed electro, hip hop and rave all at close to the speed of light.
