Waiting for an angel

Mark Doyle's label goes from strength to strength

This is shaping up to be Mark Doyle's best year yet as his Fierce Angel imprint kicks into gear with a couple of exciting new spring releases.

First up, 'Fierce Disco II', out now, is a kinetic concoction of the coolest funky house. Mixed by Doyle, it's a triple CD excursion into the best the funky scene has to offer, with legends like Todd Terry and Eric Kupper rubbing shoulders with young scamps Peyton and Out of Office. In addition, there's a CD packed full of exclusives, and with the artwork by upcoming design firebrand Jason Jaroslav Cook, it's a sumptuous package indeed.

Following that, the label also drops a new unmixed compilation this month, 'Angels Fall'. Out 5th May and with tracks selected by Doyle, this collection takes a different tack, with a more leftfield, chillout edge, taking in tunes by Radiohead, Röyksopp and Nightmares on Wax, with classics and more contemporary fare alike. Fierce fare for sure!
