DJ DEREK: POLICE CONFIRM REMAINS BELONG TO PENSIONER

Police say they are not treating his death as suspicious

Police have confirmed that human remains found in a wooded area near Bristol are those of pensioner Derek Serpell-Morris, known as DJ Derek.

DNA tests identifed the remains after a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive. They were discovered by a member of the public on 10th March near The Mall, Cribbs Causeway.

Avon and Somerset Police said they were not treating his death as suspicious.

DJ Derek went missing in July, leading to a high-profile campaign to find him.

The 73-year-old was widely-known in Bristol having been a fixture at local clubs and pubs. He also played at a number of music festivals, including Glastonbury and The Big Chill, and worked with Massive Attack.
