After retiring from touring earlier this year, Avicii has cancelled his 2016 Las Vegas residency due to “personal reasons”.

The news came in an Instagram post from XS Las Vegas, which you can read below.

Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, originally said that he would honour all dates planned in 2016 after he announced he would be retiring from touring indefinitely. His team have confirmed that all other planned dates will still go ahead following his most recent cancellation.

Bergling will be replaced by Dillon Francis at XS Las Vegas, whilst Marshmello was brought in to play his spot at Encore Beach Club over the weekend. He originally said his decision to bow out of touring duties was “something I had to do for my health” in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He went on to add, “The scene was not for me. It was not the shows and not the music. It was always the other stuff surrounding it that never came naturally to me.”

Bergling, who was recently voted at No. 7 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll, previously revealed that he had struggled with alcohol dependency in an interview with GQ in 2013. He also announced in April that he is working on a new album that is due later this year, which will consist of unreleased songs that were produced over the course of his career.
