RØDHÅD PICKS HIS 5 CURRENT TECHNO WEAPONS
The Dystopian label boss gives a rare glimpse into his record box...
In the four years since Rødhåd launched his Dystopian label, he has established himself as a heavyweight selector with his slick mix of deep and melancholic techno which takes the dancefloor on a journey. During that time, his imprint has also become a discerning seal of approval for dark and gloomy music from producers including Alex.Do, Pär Grindvik, Distance Echoes, Recondite and Vril.
The Berlin-born DJ has a massive summer coming too, playing Tale Of Us’ Afterlife at Space Ibiza and Cocoon at Amnesia, as well as festivals including Dekmantel, Into The Valley and Awakenings. He kicks things off this weekend on the Find Me In The Dark stage at Found Festival, and ahead of that show has chosen five techno weapons he’s currently playing that get the biggest response on the dancefloor, exclusively for DJ Mag.
Gotzkowsky ‘Shoulder Of Orion’
“This is from our first ever compilation, which is still something I’m proud of, with nearly all of our producers and DJs on it. If you never listened to it, do it now.”
Recondite ‘Cleric’
“Recondite is amazing when it comes to producing music, finding a balance between tool tracks and well defined, huge house and techno songs. He recently gave me some unreleased music and I love playing them loud on the dancefloor.”
Alex.Do ‘Sentionaut’
“A super track from my old friend and label mate. His production skills have grown a lot over the last few years and we were really proud to release his last EP, as it combines more melodic music with some real techno gems.”
Drumcell ‘Terminus Effect’
“Just a techno bomb from L.A. based producer Drumcell. I like his musical background as well as his power to combine techno, ambient landscapes and awesome synths.”
Jon Hester ‘A Distant Spark’
“This is our brand new release. I tested it during a Boiler Room set and the Essential Mix, and it’s an approved secret weapon. You’ll hear it everywhere at the end of June.”
