ELECTRONIC ARTISTS WEIGH IN ON THE EU REFERENDUM

Unanimous support from electronic music’s elite to remain in the EU...

Across the United Kingdom up to 44 million people are voting on whether the United Kingdom should remain in the European Union.

Whist the arguments for both for and against have been dissected to death over the last few months, in recent days electronic artists from almost every conceivable genre have begun put their head above the parapet to openly weigh in on the debate, almost unanimously throwing their considerable influence behind the remain campaign.

Pop-house duo Disclosure took to their Facebook page to declare their support for the remain campaign declaring their intention to vote to remain. “This Thursday, Howard & I will be voting for the UK to REMAIN in the EU. Here are some reasons why in the video below. Finally, whatever your decision, please remember to vote! Thanks team!”.

Veteran house duo Groove Armada also took to their Facebook page to throw their support behind the remain camp. “We don't tend to get too involved in politics, but this is something we both feel strongly about having spent a lot of time moving around Europe, living there and enjoying all the benefits of being part of the EU. Even if you don't agree, at least use your vote. Personally we will be voting ‪#‎Remain‬ this Thursday - get out there and make it count.”

Over the course of today everyone from Little Boots, Erol Alkan and Four Tet have shown their support for the remain campaign via Twitter and Facebook, some choosing to persuade others to exercise their right to vote whilst others have openly revealed which way they are voting.

Whichever way you decide to vote there’s no doubt that the EU referendum has brought to the for impassioned debate from both sides, and proves that democracy in 2016 is still very much alive and kicking.
