MILLER SOUNDCLASH 2016 FINALIST: SR. SACO (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC)

Tell us in one sentence who you are and where are you from?
"My name is Heriberto Nuñez Aka Sr. Saco and I’m from Santo Domingo; Dominican Republic."

Where did your love of music first come from?
"Ever since I was a kid I’ve felt passion for music. One of my uncles was a DJ in the 80’s and he used to take me to parties with him and I believe that there is where my love for DJing was born."

How long have you been DJing?
"I’ve been DJing for 15 years."

Tell us about the success as a DJ you’ve had in your own country.
"I’ve been Resident DJ in various top clubs in my country, and, I also hosted a radio show focused on electronic music."

How does it feel to win your local Miller SoundClash competition? Tell us about your experience in the competition so far.
"It feels amazing, it’s been a huge step-up in my career, and I love all the support I’ve been receiving from the local Miller Genuine Draft team. It means a lot to me, it’s an honor being able to represent my country in Las Vegas."

How do you plan to stand out over the other DJs in Las Vegas? How will you be preparing for the finale?
"Using my experience and my Caribbean spice. Practice, practice, practice."

What makes you unique compared to the other international finalists?
"I’d have to say, music selection, it’s based on my roots in the Caribbean, a lot of drums and high energy."

Las Vegas is the EDM capital of the USA, with major DJs playing every weekend. If you could meet and hang out with one of these DJs in Vegas, who would it be and why?
"Erick Morillo, hands down. He has been one of my major inspirations, and he seems to be a cool guy to hang around with."

Who from dance music’s elite do you most respect and take inspiration from?
"Danny Tenaglia."

How important is it for competitions like Miller SoundClash to give aspiring DJs the chance to show their talent to the world?
"Very important! It is a platform that gives new talents the necessary tools to be recognized internationally."

Tell us a bit about your home country - how is the electronic music scene where you are from?
"Dominican Republic is a small island located in the Caribbean, rich in culture and amazing people. Each day our love for electronic music grows exponentially and throughout the years we’ve been visited by many big name DJ’s allowing us to be considered as a country where the genre is consumed."
