DAVE PEARCE CHICAGO HOUSE DOCUMENTARY TO AIR ON BBC RADIO 4

‘The House of the Windy – Dance Music’s Forgotten Heroes’ charts the history of the genre...

Dave Pearce has made a documentary on the history of Chicago house, which will air on BBC Radio 4 today (12th July), as well as this Saturday (16th July).

The documentary has contributions from Marshall Jefferson, DJ Pierre and Frankie Knuckles, using material from Pearce’s last chat with the house icon before his death in 2014.

It also features Robert Williams, who started the legendary Warehouse club where the genre got its name, and Rocky Jones, founder of DJ International. Pearce speaks to the label head, who put out some of the very first records, about his reaction when he found out the few thousand records he put out were driving a cult scene in the UK.

The documentary will air at 11:30am GMT on BBC Radio 4 today (12th July), before being available on iPlayer. Pearce also recently picked his top 10 Chicago house tracks.
