SPACE IBIZA MAY BE MOVING TO A NEW VENUE IN SAN ANTONIO

Plans reportedly submitted to renovate the Reco des Sol Hotel...

Space Ibiza could be moving to a new location in San Antonio, according to reports.

They state that in July 2015 the government received plans to renovate the Reco des Sol Hotel and combine it with a nightclub, and it is thought the license would be granted under an existing law that allows hotel and nightclub combinations.

Space owner Pepe Rosello has been tight lipped on developments, as it has been mooted that the brand is to relocate after the Ushuaïa group takes over its current venue next year. But Juanjo Ferrer, head of the San Antonio’s planning department, claims Space are behind the application.

Ferrer told Diario de Ibiza, “It appears that they want to construct a hotel/disco and it seems that they would use the Space brand. With the existing law in mind we would have no choice but to grant the license for this project but it is not seen with good eyes by the government team.”

Temporary legislation has been passed in Ibiza to stop the building of hotel and nightclub combinations, but it is thought that because the Reco des Sol plans were submitted before the ban was placed, the application cannot be overruled.
