PHOTOGRAPHER SHAUN BLOODWORTH HAS DIED

He was awaiting a liver transplant in hospital...

Shaun Bloodworth, the Sheffield-born photographer who made a name for himself shooting the electronic music scene, has died.

Bloodworth had been in Sheffield’s Northern General hospital for 4 months awaiting a liver transplant. During that time, he contracted an infection that led to him having a lower leg amputation. It has been reported that further infections caused his passing.

The Yorkshireman was known for documenting the rise of Rinse FM, and took photos of a number of underground artists including Benga, Skream, Heidi and Four Tet.

XOYO revealed a Rave For Shaun event last week (9th September), which took place at the Shoreditch venue last night (15th September), with Mary Anne Hobbs, Special Request aka Paul Woolford, Pearson Sound, Benga, Katy B, Loefah, Artwork and many more all performing.

A number of artists took to social media to express their condolences following the news of his death. You can see a selection of them below.

Shaun Bloodworth .. You know when you meet someone and about 10 seconds in you just know someone is a G? .. that was Shaun! .. he was genuinely one of the nicest people i came across in this whole industry. Massively un effected and consistently happy , smiley and very kind. His work represented a generation and a real sub culture and his enthusiasm was priceless. It was always so upful workin with him with his refreshing steel city warmth and passion and of course his distinctive and iconic talent . He took all my 3 album covers and has been a big part of career thus for my life, but all that aside , again, i cannot stress how joyful his vibe was... im so so sad for his passing and send maximum love and blessings to his family.. rest in beats my g ... xxxxx http://raveforshaun.com #RaveForShaun
