Ibiza Rocks Hotel has had its music license temporarily suspended by local authorities, after failing to issue regulatory paperwork.
Initial reports suggested that failure to meet noise, vibration and safety led to the suspension, which reportedly came into place after an inspection on Friday 24th July. But Ibiza Rocks Hotel have issued a statement to say that it is solely related to paperwork.
In it, Ibiza Rocks CEO Andy Mckay said, "The current situation is not about noise, it’s about paperwork. We have been operating within the legal limits set by the national and european regulations all summer and will continue to do so next summer with our continued weekly event programme.
"Ibiza Rocks Group took over the full lease and management of the hotel on 31st May 2016 and only then became aware that the previous administration had not updated important paperwork following the move of the main stage in 2013, and had not updated the acoustic study to comply with new 2013 regulations.
"We have been working collaboratively with the authorities to remedy any issues as we only wish to operate activities that comply with all local and national laws. We have now presented the updated paperwork to the town hall and as soon as they rubberstamp it, music will will back in the hotel as normal.
"The town hall and Ibiza Rocks share a mutual duty of care to the guests currently staying in the hotel so we are hopeful the town hall will process the paperwork as quickly as possible so our guests can continue their enjoyment of their San Antonio holiday. Our 2017 event programme will not be affected."
The suspension is said to have come into effect on September 14th, and will remain in place until the necessary conditions are met.
A number of shows have already been affected by the temporary suspension of Ibiza Rocks Hotel’s music license, including those with scheduled appearances from David Rodigan, Lethal Bizzle and Wolf Alice, which were moved to the nearby Ibiza Rocks Bar.
