LISTEN TO OM UNIT'S STIRRING REMIX OF 'BROKEN' BY BLOCKS & ESCHER

Narratives Music classic gets a rework...

Back in 2012, UK production duo Blocks and Escher launched their Narratives Music label with 'Sagan'/'Broken', opening the door to a world of abstract, emotive drum & bass. Four years on, these tracks have been given the remix treatment, and we've secured a very special version of 'Broken' by the one and only Om Unit for premiere.

"Our first release on Narratives remains a special one for us in many ways for obvious reasons and since finishing the 'Sagan' VIP (for our own sets) we have been bombarded with requests to release it," Blocks tells DJ Mag. "Like with all our records, we wanted it to be presented the right way, finding the right balance of music and theme.

"Early this year we found ourselves in a rather fortuitous position of having two gorgeous remixes from two of our favourite artists in Paradox and Om Unit."

But while the stripped-back 'Sagan VIP' and storming 'Broken (Paradox Remix)' will come as a standard package, Blocks explains that in wanting to keep the Om Unit remix separate, a new catalogue series was born.

"We wanted to do something interesting with the vinyl itself," he continues. "We felt the laser etched disc offered vinyl DJs the opportunity to get a physical copy of the music and record collectors (including ourselves!) something to really cherish."

Bristol's Om Unit is at the top of his game right now, dropping killer remixes left, right and centre. Although the pace of his 'Broken' remix may be laid-back, the track has a powerful feel and pays healthy tribute to the original.

Check it out below and pre-order a digital or laser-etched vinyl copy via the Narratives Bandcamp ahead of its release on 7th October.
