MAKE SHAREABLE MIXES WITH SPOTIFY TRACKS VIA NEW APP

Long live the mixtape!

A new app called Pacemaker allows users to share mixtapes made up of songs on Spotify.

The program, which originally launched back in 2014, contains an automatic beatmatching function, enabling users to create mixes which they can then share with friends.

Pacemaker will also recommend other mixes based on who users follow and what they've previously liked.

“There’s an algorithm and it’s going to suggest mixtapes for you based on the people you follow, the music you consume, mixtapes and tracks you like,” company CEO Jonas Norberg says in an interview with The Verge. “We’re rolling it out during the next [few] months and it’s a project that’ll constantly evolve and get better.”

To avoid copyright issues, Pacemaker won't actually share a full copy of the mix, but instead gives the listener's app the data required to put together the mix itself.

Pacemaker is available for free from the App Store, with bonus features such as filters available at an extra cost.
