Last Night a DJ Saved My Life

Win tickets to opening weekend of new dance charity

Last Night a DJ Saved My Life is a new charity based around the motto ‘unity, community and serious fun’ whose aim is to raise funds and awareness for humanitarian and environmental causes through running club events.

Set-up by original acid house clubber Jonny Lee, the charities ambassadors are Shoom’s Danny Rampling, a friend of Jonny’s since they met in Thailand in 1991 (where he was running a bar called The Vinyl Café), Mark Wilkinson and Nancy Noise, with a whole host of other DJs also showing their support.

The charity launches on 29th May at Ibiza’s International Music Summit before a series of events in London beginning Saturday 5th June, World Environmental Day, raising money for Survival International who support indigenous tribes.

With a screening of 'They Call It Acid – The Movie', a film on the acid house movement, in Soho in the afternoon, the evening welcomes ‘The Acid House Effect’, a night of pioneering DJs at Corsica Studios, with a line-up including Alfredo, Nancy Noise, Steve Proctor, Trevor Fung, Toddla T mentor Winston Hazel, and fellow Steel City resident (where Jonny is also originally from) Chris Duckenfield.

The following night at The Light Bar it’s Balearic Mystique, the party Jonny started in Ibiza last year and has grown into a Balearic DJ agency. With Danny Rampling heading up a roll-call of talent such as Ross Allen, Balearic Mike, Mancunian legend Moonboots, A Man Called Adam and DJ History’s Bill Brewster, it promises a diverse selection of dancefloor beats.

Jonny is kindly offering the chance to win weekender tickets for two, tickets for two to the exclusive screening of the movie ‘They Call It Acid’, and a signed copy of the book Last Night a DJ Saved My Life by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton. There are also 25 weekender tickets as runner-up prizes and all entrants will get a free download of a recording from Balearic Mystique at the IMS.
