15 Years of DJ Mag Ibiza party at Space

Timo Maas added to confirmed line-up

With the Ibiza season now open, and having raved it up at the special-two day opening of Space (with a little DC10 afterwards for good measure), DJMag are proud to finalise the line-up for our very special party which takes over the whole of Spaceon Thursday 1st July.

Celebrating 15 years of DJMagazine in Ibiza, where we publish a special Ibiza edition twice each season which clubbers can pick up in the very best bars, restaurants and clubs, the line-up reflects some of our favourite artists, old and new with tickets a bargain 25 euros.

Now added to Discoteca is German master of re-invention, Timo Maas, who crossed over into breaks and even garage in the 90s with his remix of Azzido Da Bass' 'Doom's Night', while continually pushing the boundaries of house and techno.

He joins fellow Germans Booka Shade who'll be playing a DJ set that promises to be as skilfully eclectic as their very more-ish new ‘More!’ album. And they’re backed by a second pair of legends, Charlie May and Duncan Forbes, aka Spooky, whose ‘Gargantuan’ album ranks alongside Leftfield’s ‘Leftism’ as one of the formative albums of the then nascent progressive house scene.

In La Terraza we welcome long time favourite Derrick Carter for a trademark set of jacking Chicago house. Metro Area bring their lush brand of New York disco, so ahead of its time that the rest of the world is only just catching up, and Silicone Soul unleash their raw house straight from their Glasgee underground. The two-headed, eight-limbed, school-attending mixing machine that is The Martinez Brothers perform one of their hyper-kinetic sets, covering all bases from disco to techno, and we welcome man of the moment, Tensnake, whose ‘Coma Cat’ is surely the hottest tip to be tune of the summer.

El Salon is headed up by Ibiza stalwarts and Balearic kings Chris Coco and Pete Gooding joined by the The DJmag all Stars, yes, that’s us, in what could possibly be a case, not of too many DJs, but possibly too many JDs instead.

Keep your ears open for news of a pre-party as one of our favourite bars on the island too...

When DJMagazine first rocked up on Ibiza with a pen, notepad and camera in hand, things were very different. In the 15 years since we’ve watched many a promoter crash and burn, or simply slide by the wayside. Other magazines have come and gone. Roofs have been forced on terraces. Restrictions have changed the face, or at least the timetables, of how Ibiza parties.

But despite the quick-shifting sands, Ibiza’s unparalleled beauty, epic-scale clubs and eternal ability to reinvent itself has meant there is still no place on earth quite like when it comes to club culture. For one third of the year, literally every relevant DJ on this planet will pass through at some point. From the renewed underground energy of Circo Loco to the stylish diversity of Pacha’s line-up, through the world-beating, festival-styled marathons of We Love... Space on Sundays to the recent embrace of dubstep or the ongoing San An revolution spearheaded by Pete Tong’s Wonderland, Ibiza’s capacity to endlessly inspire, excite and surprise remains.

So if you’re lucky enough to make it over, make sure that you grab your copy of DJMagazine Ibiza to guide you through. And if you haven’t booked yet, then have a gander at the competition in our current issue, out now, to find out on how you can bag a free trip over to the White Isle for our 15 Years of DJMagazine Ibiza party at Space.

DJMAGAZINE IBIZA: A BEGINNERS GUIDE

SO WHAT EXACTLY IS DJMAG IBIZA THEN?
DJMag Ibiza is our on-island Ibiza magazine covering all the moves and grooves rocking the White Isle. It’s 114 pages and is absolutely stuffed chocka full of artist features, hot news, club reviews and comprehensive listings.

SO IT’S BASICALLY EXACTLY LIKE A MORE COMPACT DJMAG BUT TOTALLY DEDICATED TO IBIZA?
Pretty much, yeah, but there’s also loads of essential travel information like beach, bar and restaurant guides, useful tourist numbers and a map of the island. It’s also translated into Spanish for locals. Think of it an all-round travel companion and essential information source for Ibiza adventurers. Or just something to read on the bog.

SOUNDS GREAT MUCH DOES IT COST THEN?
Nada, zilch, nuttin! DJMag Ibiza is totally free and has been ever since we started in 1995. We’re nice like that, eh?

SO WHERE CAN I GET A COPY?
If you’re on the island, it’s more like where can’t you get a copy! We print up 50,000 copies of DJMag Ibiza and they are distributed right across the island in all the essential bars, restaurants and clubs.

WHEN DO THEY COME OUT?
We do two issues that cover pretty much the full season’s activities. The first hits the streets on 1st July, the second on 15th August.
