Mount Kimbie, announce tour, selected to support XX, plans for world domination imminent
The XX have a knack for selecting supporting acts. After helping break Los Angeles weirdo Nosaj Thing and Swedish dream-poppers jj on their last tour, they’ve now picked up post-dubstep duo Mount Kimbie to support them through August.
Experimental and proudly without a scene to call their own, these heavily-hyped Londoners are set to blow up after catching a few rays of the XX’s shine and releasing their debut album ‘Crooks & Lovers.’
The album is a glorious mish-mash of genres and styles, boasting tracks so varied that they run the gamut from the pitched-up vocal snippets of Burial to the toe-rattling bass and syncopated percussion of Flying Lotus, and everything in between, touching on such genres as ambient, lo-fi, and even a bit of soul.
Check Mount Kimbie – who perform live with a proper band – this summer, while seeing them is still a bargain. Here are the dates:
