Ralph Lawson Xone:3D Tips & Tricks Video Demonstration

In part one of DJmag.com's exclusive video, Ralph Lawson shares his Xone:3D tips and tricks with us!

DJ Tools have come a long way in the past five years with software leading the way.

Unfortunately, it's taken a lot longer for DJ hardware to accommodate the virtual world - until now.

DJ, producer and 20:20 Vision label boss Ralph Lawson is familiar with the limitations software brought with it when he adopted Ableton Live in 2004 to his DJing and live sets with his band, 20:20 Soundsystem.

But he hasn't been able to fully realise his digital DJ dream until he got his hands on Allen & Heath's revolutionary new digital mixer, the Xone:3D.

"The 3D is what I've been waiting for, for three years," he says.

"You've got a mixer in the middle, and the computer purely as a reference on the side.

"I hardly have to look at it though...I just need to know I'm at the right scene in Ableton."

Ralph agreed to let DJmag.com film him using the Xone:3D, and to share some tips and tricks with you lot.

Here in part one, Ralph introduces us to the mixer and reveals how to get the most out of Ableton Live using the Allen & Heath Xone:3D mixer.
