Liverpudlian festival Creamfields has finally been granted its license by Halton Borough Council, just two months before the event is due to take place.

The one day dance festival had to move location this year, after development work at its original old Liverpool airport home in Speke forced the organisers to find a new site.

Obviously finding a suitable place for 45,000 clubbers, and a few booming soundsystems is no mean feat.

But Cream have done it, and Creamfields will take place for definite on Saturday 26th August at a field in Daresbury, Halton, Cheshire.

Successful

Cream's boss James Barton said: "We are naturally delighted that our licence application has been successful.

"We were always confident in the strength of the application and we are now looking forward to putting on what will be a superb show."

Unlike the recent treatment of the Hi:Fi North festival in Northumbria, Creamfields has been widely welcomed by Halton's local community - a recent independent survey of over 1,000 residents in Halton and Warrington showing that more than 90% were in favour of the event coming to Daresbury.

Economic Windfall

Local businesses and tourism leaders are all keen to cash in on the expected £3m economic windfall
caused by Creamfields.

A study carried out at Creamfields 2004 by The Mersey Partnership estimated that each clubber attending the event spent more than £90.

Local businesses expected to benefit include bus, taxi and rail companies, plus pubs, restaurants, hotels, guest houses and bed and breakfast accommodation.
