Music Business Certificate

At Point Blank London

“The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs,” said Hunter S Thompson.  “There's also a negative side.”

While times have changed and it no longer resembles the scene of ‘Kill Your Friends’ backstage and in boardrooms, it pays to know what you’re talking about to get ahead in the music industry.

Point Blank London’s Music Business Certificate is a new course teaching you the ins and outs of the trade, from record deals, publishing and contracts, to new business models incorporating 360 deals and new media and digital distribution.

Whether you want to be manage yourself, set up a label, work in A&R, represent different artists or promote live shows, it’ll provide you with the knowhow, nous and contacts.

Taught by Steve Hillier, whose work as a founding member of Dubstar set him up to work with Sugababes, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Mark Owen and Natalie Imbruglia, past students includes Ben Scarr who graduated into an A&R role at Island Records.

Course fees are £3595 and enrolment is now taking place for courses starting on January 13th and April 4th/5th 2011.

For students who can’t make it to London, the college also offers an online course alternative.
