Halliwell & Trophy Twins Join BBC Radio 1

Eddie Halliwell and the Trophy Twins will host their own shows on BBC Radio 1 as part of the station's new dance output.

Fans of Eddie Halliwell and the Trophy Twins were rejoicing this week, after BBC Radio 1 announced new shows on the influential youth station.

Halliwell's new slot will be on Thursdays, playing a rough blend of trance, hard dance and techno every week from midnight till 2am, starting on 28th September.

The Trophy Twins, meanwhile, will present their new weekly 'Aftershow' slot every Sunday morning from 4am – 7am starting on 30th September.

The new shows are part of a major overhaul of Radio 1's dance output, which has seen lovable Irish DJ Fergie and Blue Room presenter Chris Coco be given the chop.

Halliwell and the Trophy Twins were given their own shows after a successful stint co-presenting Radio 1's 'The Residency' alongside four other jocks.

In light of the changes, Radio 1 has also renamed this show 'In New DJs We Trust'. It will still be dedicated to showcasing up and coming DJ talent and new dance music but has cut down the number of DJs now presenting to just four.
