UK bass boy fires up for Carnival

With Notting Hill Carnival almost upon us, Bedford-based bassman Lil Silva fills us in ahead of slamming Benji B’s Deviation Carnival Session at The Paradise alongside DJ EZ, Zinc (back to ’96 jungle set), Alexander Nut, Phil Asher and Scratcha DVA

on Monday 29th August...

Lil Silva, how's it going?

“The world's a bad place, but yeah I’m all good!”

Are you looking forward to the Notting Hill Carnival this year?

“Very much looking forward to the carnival, Bristol carnival was brilliant so can't wait to experience it closer to home.”

What can we expect from your set?

"Bring towels. It tends to get hot sweaty and rowdy during the set. I have been working on a lot of new material, shall be seeing how it goes down on set.”

Will it be tailored to the carnival vibe or is it going to be your usual styles?

“I will be playing a mixture of styles. Of course a lot of my stuff caters to a carnival vibe but I have been getting into a lot of different music recently and I'm going to try all of that out. Its going to be fun.”

What's tickling you musically at the moment?

"Right now I've been listening to a lot of Motown records. It’s getting me in the mood to make a lot of interesting stuff.”

What have you got coming up release/gig-wise?

“Currently working on a third release for Nightslugs. Also working on numerous projects with artists which I can't go into detail right now but will hopefully be ready to drop in the next few months! Plus I'm really looking forward to all these festivals I have coming up, including Outlook and Bestival. Be there. It's going to be a moment.”
