Brixton’s iconic venue most recently known as The Fridge has just undergone a £1 million shake up and is set to open its doors as Electric Brixton this Tuesday 20th September. The weekday event features a special live show with Hard-Fi and follows with an appearance b
y Chicago legend Felix da Housecat for The Grand Opening Night on Saturday 24th September alongside the head of International Gigalo Records DJ Hell, Hannah Holland, JoJo De Freq, Tom Staar and fast-rising stars Keith & Supabeatz.
Following these launches, an impressive diary of events is penned for October ranging from live bands to an exciting array of club nights. The roll call of bands the venue has played host to over the years is pretty impressive - Pet Shop Boys, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Grace Jones and Sade have all performed there - and Electric Brixton does not look set to disappoint, with highlights including M.A.N.D.Y, Kissy Sell Out, Gilles Peterson + friends, Stanton Warriors and Japanese Popstars (live) who will be opening underground powerhouse Spectrum’s monthly residency.
Originally the Palladium Picture Playhouse, and most recently The Fridge, Electric Brixton boasts an amazing stage with unsurpassed sightlines making it the perfect venue for mid-large-scale club events. The refurbishment of its two floors is now almost complete; bringing back where possible original interior features with some twists for the 21st century.
