High Contrast launches fourth album

Experience ‘The Agony and The Ecstasy’ in-store at Catapult Cardiff on 3rd March

Like any profession where fame, money and unbridled devotion follow for performing what is at its base the simplest of tasks, in this case playing a bunch of overlapping tracks, a lot of DJs heads are apt to bouts of anal self-exploration. So it’s all the more refreshing when others simply keep their feet on the ground with the attitude of an undoubted talent who worked hard and did good.

High Contrast, aka d&b producer Lincoln Barrett, releases his fourth album ‘The Agony and The Ecstasy’ on 27th February with a title no doubt referencing the inevitable pitfalls of reaching the dizzying heights he’s achieved, and if you doubt his pedigree then we just need to refer you to the album’s first single ‘The First Note is Silent’, a collaboration with stadium trancer Tiesto and the festival (and Olympic) rocking Underworld. Not bad for a lad from Cardiff.

And he’s not forgotten his roots; the album features local talent Lung, a new signing to Med School (Hospital’s sister label), and vocalist Jessy Allen who  appears on the forthcoming ‘I Don’t Love You’ by Organ Grinder on Catapult Records, a tune being spun by the likes of Jackmaster on Rinse FM.

Not only that, but before his gig at Cardiff Student Union on 3rd March, you can catch him perform at an intimate in-store performance at Catapult Records, the shop where he once worked and where you can ahandily also grab tickets for that evening, as well as get yourself a signed copy of the album.

If you haven’t visited in a while, then please note that Catapult has moved to 3-7 Duke Street Arcade, Cardiff, CF10 1AZ.
