Donna Summer dies

Disco singer who helped shape electronic music passes away

One of disco's most celebrated vocalists, Donna Summer, has died at the age of 63.

Working with German producer Giorgo Moroder, synth driven hits such as 'I Feel Love' – remixed into a classic 16 minute version by Patrick Cowley - and 'Love To Love You Baby' helped define the sound of disco, adding a European electronic edge.

Growing up in Boston, where she began singing in gospel choirs, Summer moved to Germany as part of the cast of the musical hair in the late '60s.
