Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, aka The Bloody Beetroots, has the spirit of punk close to his heart – and the date '1977' tattooed on his chest, the year that both he and the anarchic socio-political musical movement were born.
After years of playing in Italian garage-punk bands, in 2007 he turned his creative energies to The Bloody Beetroots, condensing his interest in punishing sounds, Italian futurism, photography, art and world history, to create tracks such as 'Cornelius' and 'Warp', winning over fans from Etienne De Crecy to Steve Aoki.
Featuring what Sir Bob describes as, “girls, shotguns, 70’s muscle cars, dust”, plus a whole load of tattooes, the video to his new single 'Rocksteady' premieres exclusively on DJ Mag and captures this free-wheeling spirit and wide-ranging cultural referencing, following on from previous single 'Church Of Noise” featuring Swedish hardcore punk-pioneer Dennis Lyxzén.
To accompany it, we have an equally exclusive hour long podcast filled with the likes of Plump DJs, Nicky Romera and 'Rocksteady' itself, with the original track alongside remxies from Gigi Barocco and Mumbai Science.
