With free 'Girl' EP by Squarehead
Cabaret Voltaire, The Human League, Warp Records; Sheffield has produced some of electronic music's finest moment. New label 5ANDSEVEN (which, by our reckoning, makes either 12 or 57 depending on how you interpret it) seeks to continue this tradition. And what better way to kick off than with a free EP.
Already marked out by DJs on arbiter of the underground Rinse FM, and national tastemakers Radio One, 19-year-old Squarehead has already played alongside the likes of Pearson Sound, Redlight, Blawan, Disclosure and Julio Bashmore. His four track 'Girl' EP displays a thoroughly modern take on house, with rough percussion, edgy vocal samples and plenty of dancefloor jack.
