Intel DJ Comp nears regional finals

Public voting open & regional line ups announced

The deadline for submissions has now passed for the Intel DJ Competition, whose prize includes Intel’s new Ultrabook and a prestigious DJ slot with Radio 1's Benji B in London. Benji B, DJ Mag (that's us) and Intel will now pick a shortlist of 18 submissions before the regional heats begin. But we also want your input on who deserves a spot in the second round. You can listen to the submissions and have your say at https://www.facebook.com/IntelUK/app_17135043958

The chosen DJs will play at one of the regional heats which start in Manchester on 3rd October, with the event taking place at South Nightclub which opened in 1995 and once featured flyers with the winning slogan, 'students fuck off down South'. Joining entrants there will be Hoya Hoya's Illum Sphere, winner of 2010's BBC 1Xtra Urban Music Award, and forward-thinking d&B/techno head Synkro. Next up on 4th October the hopefuls will be in Birmingham at Cellar Door in The Rainbow, with dBridge – of Exit Records and Autonomic fame - showing them how it's done. Finally on 11th October they'll be at London's East Village with garage don and master of broken beats Zed Bias also in the 'Neighbourhood'.

Using the objective processing power of their Ultrabooks, Intel will be judging the competition via six Ultrabooks lined up with professional mics to monitor clap levels! The two winners of each heat will then receive a brand new Ultrabook to set about plotting their aural attack for the London final on 18th October
