Champion of underground dance music bags weekend breakfast gig

Former BBC Radio One and XFM presenter Mary Anne Hobbs has announced a return to the BBC as she joins digital station 6Music for their Weekend Breakfast Show.

The long term pioneer of underground electronic music was best known for the seminal 'Breezeblock' show that was pivitol in bringing jungle, drum & bass and latterly dubstep and grime to the national airwaves.

The DJ, who takes the reigns on January 5th has said; "For me: Music Is Life. I'm so excited to join a family with such depth and diversity of knowledge, pure passion and ingenuity. I look forward so much to the new challenge of creating a beautiful Weekend Breakfast Show which embodies the whole spirit of 6 Music, and allows me to explore some fascinating new radio terrain," said Mary Anne Hobbs.

The Weekend Breakfast Show runs on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am-10am on BBC Radio 6Music.
