CLOSE TO D EDGE

Sao Paulo's only underground superclub edges towards carnival celebrations

While Mardi Gras celebrations transform the streets of Rio De Janeiro into an explosive carnival, just round the corner, only a modest 220 miles around the gigantic South American coastline, clued up club heads in Brazil's largest city can enjoy a party atmosphere of a very different nature this February.

A darker, more demure alternative to those bootin' off within Sao Paulo's 'marvellous' sister city, intensity levels within D Edge, Renato Ratier's slick bastion for quality house and techno, will not fall far short at an event with a line-up to rival even Europe's most revered dens of iniquity.

On Thursday 7th February, an Innervisions takeover will witness Âme, Henrik Schwarz and Dixon deliver their debonair tech house to the space-age décor of Sao Paulo's only underground superclub, before the minds powering its subterranean ethos pack their bags and head to the heart of the festival on Sunday 10th February, where they'll throw a party at the Rio Music Conference led by a team of Minus all-stars. Top-ended by Richie Hawtin and Matador (live), plus support from D Edge residents Kings of Swingers (Mau Mau and Renato Ratier) and Mauricio Lopes, we'd bet our bottom real (R$) they keep asses shakin' into the early hours, well after the floats on procession have passed and the carnival commotion has finally wound down.
