7 WALLACE

Idris Elba invites 7 DJs along for 7 Friday parties

If you haven't seen Idris Elba as suave drug dealer Stringer Bell in The Wire - rated the best TV show ever, including in the future, by everyone, including you, even if you haven't seen it – then trust us, he can act. In fact, we didn't realise he was English until he appeared in his own series Luther on UK TV. He's since been in Ridley Scott's massive Prometheus and plays Nelson Mandela in a forthcoming film.

We didn't realise he was a DJ either until he hosted How Clubbing Change the World. Apparently though, he's being spinning tracks since the age of 14, was a resident at a couple of clubs in New York around the turn of the Millennium, has produced for Jay-Z and recently warmed up for Deadmau5. He even helped run a pirate radio station in Hackney during the '90s, so he's paid his dues. Oh, and last year he hosted the DJ Mag Top 100 in Amsterdam, top man.

For his new project, 7 Wallace, Idris will be spinning at Love & Liquor – a new venue modelled on Williamsburg cocktail lounges in trendy 'ol Brooklyn - in West London for 7 Fridays and 7 nights with 7 guest DJs. Clearly, his lucky number is 7.

Having already had Pete Tong and Roger Sanchez come play, you can apply for the tickets for the remaining events (dates below) after this video of the first couple of parties. And his guests tonight (8th of February)? Only UK garage legends The Heartless Crew.
