SISTER BLISS LAUNCHES NEW LABEL
And first solo single in over a decade
Former Faithless mainstay Sister Bliss releases her first solo single in more than a decade this month. The single, 'Ain't There', is the first release on Blissy's new Junkdog label. “Junkdog will be a loving home for pedigree house music, a motley crew of talented young pups and my own originals, so I guess it’s fitting I take the lead and get ahead of the pack with the debut,” the DJ/producer says, excitedly.
Along with producer Rollo and vocalist Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss kick-started Faithless in the mid-'90s and built the band into one of the biggest electronic acts in the world. Prior to Faithless, Bliss was a well-known DJ in her own right, and carried on DJing throughout her time in the 'Insomnia' hitmakers. Since wrapping up Faithless in 2011, she's focused much more on her DJ career again — taking up a residency at The Gallery in London and scoring a syndicated show on Ministry Of Sound radio, amongst other activities.
'Ain't There' has Blissy starting off on a tribal house tip before some Faithless-reminiscent teutonic bleeps punctuate the drop. A spoken word vocal, not that dissimilar to old Faithless cohort Maxi Jazz, carries the main mix throughout, while the 'Dubstramental' is more of a minimalistic deep neo-trouse affair.
