WHAT ARE YOU WEARING... BARBARA TUCKER

Exclusive wardrobe access

What are you wearing right now?

“I am wearing pyjamas, well, a onesy as it’s winter and I just woke up. Honestly, though, I don't really do the name brands thing, if I like something, I just buy it and it doesn't have to be a designer name or brand.”

How would you describe your style?

“I was always inspired by the soul and funk, and love the soul style of the '70s. It's flamboyant and colourful, and I also really liked Cher when Bob Mackie dressed her in the '70s. I loved that funky mod look she had going on. I am a big fan of colours and orange, red and white are my favourites. I am not really moved by what everyone wears as a group. That's funny to me, and some might think it's weird, but I like unique style.”

What is your favourite boutique/store?

“I love a lot of unique boutiques, but I’m sorry, I don't know their names! I often just wander into stores when I see something I like on display. I go to flea markets and I am also partial to shopping on Fifth Avenue in New York, as they have some beautiful stores there.

“I also design a lot of my clothes for the stage, and it's actually a hidden dream of mine to be a designer. My stage outfits encompass everything I love — funky soul style, colours, dance-inspired fabrics that you can move in, luxury, and uniqueness.”

Which city in the world is the most stylish in your opinion?

“I have to say Milan, as the Italians are number one for style. It's a melting pot of fashion, with influences from all over Europe and the street, and the people aren't scared to wear different looks.”

What is your most treasured possession?

“I do have a lot of wigs and boots as any stylish artist would... heck, as any regular woman would (laughs). Women all over the world have that foot glamour in common. But I don't really have one possession that I could name, as it's not that important to me. My spirituality and relationship with God and my family are much more important.”

What are you currently working on?

“I am working on new projects such as Barb&Q with my DJ and MC, Q, and have songs such as ‘Breathe Love, Breathe Life’ with DJ Spen, ‘Beautiful World’ with Glasses Boys; a remake of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ with The Cube Boys, and many more that we're adding the finishing touches to. Kevin Hedge from Blaze and I are also working together on a big project, House Artists United, to raise money and awareness for a Women’s Homeless Shelter in Brooklyn with 25 other artists. I will also be hosting my Sunday night party in Ibiza again this summer.”
