CABLE LEGAL INQUIRY

London club request judicial review following closure

In an interview with DJ Mag, Cable's managing director Ryan Ashmore confirmed the club has requested a judicial review after Network Rail pulled the plug on the venue to make way for London Bridge Underground development on 1st May.

“We believe they do not have the right to do what they have done, hence why we have issued a judicial review which still has to go through the court process,” he said.

The announcement comes after a public statement from the club last Friday that Network Rail had given repeated assurances to the club that they would not be affected by such plans.

Euan Johnston, director at Cable, said: "We are totally shocked and devastated that this could have happened. We were assured when we moved in that we would not be affected by the redevelopment and Network Rail have simply changed their minds – the worst thing is there is nothing we can do to prevent it. We have invested a huge amount of time and energy developing the space and growing Cable as a brand, not to mention employing 70 staff who now face redundancy.”
