Late '90s house/techno stalwart Aril Brikha has turned out an unexpected remix of underground pop outfit Sailor & I for Black Butter Records.
Laden with sugary synths and polished drums, it's an unexpected return to production from the Swedish-Iranian, whose sound was best defined by the steely Detroit chords of '90s classic 'Groove La Chord'.
It remains to be seen if this new direction is permanent, or if Brikha will return to the deep metallic dancefloor sound coined for labels like Transmat, Kompatk and Art of Vengeance during the noughties.
The release is also a surprising departure from Black Butter Records, a label associated with underground UK bass artists such as Gorgon City and Kidnap Kid, rather than the sacharrine indie ambience of Sailor & I.
