REWIND: COZZY D

Lower East don looks back

First record you ever bought?

“Double 99 'RIP Groove'”

First two tunes you tried to mix?

“Probably 'RIP Groove' with Boris Dlugosch 'Hold Your Head Up High (Julian Jonah Mix)'.”

First-ever gig?

“Middlesex University Student Union.”

Fondest club experience?

“Four hour b2b set with Johnny Mikes, for Renaissance at The Cross, in 2004. Was one of my earliest ‘proper’ club gigs, so will always hold a special memory for me.”

Worst club experience?

“Playing at a festival at the same time when England are playing in a World Cup match is really not the one.”

Most mental event?

“Soul Vision Festival in Brazil in 2011. Purely down to the epic journey I had to get there. Internal flight from Sao Paulo got cancelled due to bad weather, so had to take a five-hour bus journey, arriving late and covered in mud as I didn’t come very prepared for swamp conditions. Then having to come on the decks straight away after a 36-hour journey. The gig was awesome to say the least, which made up for it.”

Most significant club of all time?

“The End, London (RIP)”

Any era, anywhere?

“Would quite like to have been an adult, but in the late '80s, the early acid house days — to have experienced the early rave scene in all its glory.”
