THE GARAGE LEEDS CLOSES DOWN
New venue plans ongoing
On the eve of the launch of voting for this year’s Best of British Awards, we have received the bad news that last year’s Best Small Club – The Garage Leeds – has been forced to close its doors with immediate effect.
The intimate club, which catered for Leeds’ underground clientele with promoters including Back to Basics and DJs such as Derrick Carter, Steffi and Andrew Wetherall also doubled up as a record store.
The venue are attaching no blame to any external factors, simply stating that the current landlord has chosen not to extend the tenancy.
The Garage team inform us that they have already found a new venue and hope to be up and running in time for Christmas. All of the existing promoters have agreed to move to the new location.
