Breakdance festival goes on tour

Get out your linos, ghettoblasters, and rope gold chains, and throw on your flyest threads. The Breakin' Convention hip-hop dance festival is back, and this time it's on tour around the country.

Normally taking place only at Sadlers Wells theatre in London, this year, Breakin' Convention goes on the road, and will witness performances from some of the world's greatest breakdancers, poppin' lockin', and headspinnin' their way to glory. Commencing in May, the tour will feature the world famous Electric Boogaloos, live and direct all the way from Los Angeles. Also appearing will be Brazilian Frank Ejara, with his irreverent and fresh take on the form, and French freaks Franck II Louise who'll be performing their distinctive hip hop cut 'Drop It'. DJ support will come from DMC winners the En4cers, and all the events are hosted and curated by Jonzi D.

Other acts confirmed for the London leg include Bill Shannon, a.k.a The Crutchmaster, whose hybrid dance styles have been wowing audiences all over the planet; the pyrotechnic manoeuvres of Austria's Moving Shadows; and the UK's own well established D-Physics, performing a new work entitled 'Spank-A-Lee'.

The tour will initially touch down at London's Sadler's Wells on 5th–7th May, then at the Newcastle Theatre Royal on 9th May, Edinburgh Festival Theatre on 11th–12th May, Birmingham Hippodrome on 15th–16th May, Northampton Demgate on 19th May, Wycombe Swan on 22nd–23rd May, Brighton Dome on 25th–26th May, Sheffield City Hall on 30th–31st May and finally at Nottingham Playhouse on 2nd June.
