THE ULTIMATE PARTY IN PARADISE?

Groovefest offers Kenny Dope and a dope setting

Lots of festivals have all the constituent parts in place — a top line-up, great soundsystems and so forth — but the weather can let them down. At a dance music festival in the Caribbean sunshine, though, you're not likely to have festivities interrupted by the elements.

Groovefest is a luxury event set in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic from September 9th — 15th. They've just announced a whole wave of artists for the event, including Kenny Dope, Dennis Ferrer, Lee Burridge, Wolf + Lamb, Soul Clap, Osunlade, Horse Meat Disco, No Artificial Colours, Slow Hands (live) and more...

At just shy of a grand (a thousand pounds), tickets to Groovefest aren't exactly cheap. But when you consider that this includes unlimited food and drink, luxury accommodation, and the fact that you are basically in paradise, then it starts to seem highly attractive. Accessible by short flight from America, or from a slightly longer haul from Europe, Groovefest is making us want to start saving for this party in paradise.

Groovefest is a throwback to a byegone era where everyone is part of the experience,” the organisers say. “You will be having dinner next to the DJs, dancing with them on the dancefloor, going back to villa parties that are like house parties hosted by your favourite artists. It is an environment where the only star is the music.”

The resort lies on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation. Can we go, please?
