DEADMAU5 TO RELEASE EDM NURSERY RHYMES ALBUM

Deadmau5's now legendary trolling of Martin Garrix, by altering the bleepy melody line of 'Animals' into 'Old MacDonald Had A Farm', has unexpectedly proved a big hit with EDM ravers the world over.

Deadmau5's new arrangement of Garrix's international hit, hastily prepared for when the mighty Mau5 stepped in for Avicii at Ultra Music Festival, was designed to be a dig at what he perceived as identikit EDM. Yet so popular did it prove at Ultra that it left festival-goers wanting more. 

The new version of 'Animals', with its bleeped notes altered by Deadmau5, aka Joel Zimmerman, into 'Old MacDonald', is now being rush-released for a single release, DJ Mag understands.

And a record company executive at the side of the stage was reportedly so impressed by Deadmau5's cover version that he signed a deal for a 'concept album' with the Mau5 on the spot. The deal is thought to be worth at least fifty million dollars.

A Deadmau5 insider told DJ Mag: “Like the man says, Deadmau5 is an evil genius. Even though his tracks aren't that different from bog-standard EDM, he's managed to set himself up as some sort of nemesis for EDM now. This new project is going to further rub salt into the wounds. He's switched to minimal techno for his own material now, and the last laugh is on him.”

When asked what tracks the Mau5 was going to record for his 'nursery rhymes' album, the insider revealed: “Nothing is set in stone yet, but some early ideas include 'Three Blind Mice' re-made as a Swedish House Mafia-style big room beast, with epic triple synth stabs providing the main riff.”

“Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's 'Ocarina' is likely to have the words to 'Hickory Dickory Dock' vocodered over the top of it, instead of its existing chorus,” our spy continued.

“The words to 'Humpty Dumpty' will replace the words to 'Wake Me Up' in Deadmau5's Avicii reworking, and 'The Grand Old Duke Of York' will be remade in a Showtek 'Booyah' stylee.”

'Baa Baa Black Sheep', meanwhile, will become the new breakdown in David Guetta's 'Shot Me Down', apparently. Re-sung by a Nancy Sinatra soundalike, its tale will turn particularly nasty as the words spell out a gruesome dismembering of a sheep in an abattoir.

“Deadmau5 is determined that this nursery rhymes project won't be all cutesy and fluffy bunny,” said our source.
