TOP 100 CLUBS 2014: LATIN AMERICA FOCUS

With Miller Genuine Draft

2014 has been the biggest ever year for Top 100 Clubs, powered by Miller Genuine Draft. Over 350,000 of your cast your votes from all four corners of the globe!

One of the biggest changes to the poll over the last four years (since it became a public vote) has been the emergence of clubs within Latin America.

The region contains the majority of Central and South America (all those with languages that derive from Latin).

To make sure we always bring you the latest from this key dance music region, we recently launched DJ Mag Latin America.

But were the clubs from this region represented in the final results? The simple answer is - only in Brazil!

Over the last few year’s Brazil’s clubbing scene has grown into one of the world’s finest. Green Valley - who won last year’s poll may have fallen away to second place this year, but with an enviable rain forest location and jaw-dropping production values, Green Vally remains one of the planet’s essential clubbing experiences.

In at number 8 in this year’s poll is Sirena  - the indoor/outdoor venue that has something for everyone - with big EDM stars playing inside (think Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Fatboy Slim et al) while outside the huge tree-lined dancefloor is a favourite of Amine Edge & Dance and Solomun, to name a few. It is also our favourite place to dance until sunrise.

For those who prefer their beats on an underground tip, you can’t go wrong with Warung (pic above) or D-Edge (pic below). Both venues are creatively managed by Renato Ratier, who likes his beats slick, stripped back and electronic - techno heroes Marco Carola and the Innervisions crew are regular bookings.

Other notable mentions have to go to Matahari (pictured top) Anzu, Sky Room, Miroir and Club Vibe, who complete the eight Brazillian clubs who made the 2014 list.

But with all the attention on Brazil, have the Lat Am voters overlooked some gems in the wider region? Pacha Beunos Aires slipped out of the running this year, as did La Huaka in Peru.
