PRODIGY NEW ALBUM AT END OF THE YEAR
Band confirm “violent-sounding” album to drop late in 2014
The Prodigy have confirmed that their next album, their sixth — the follow-up to 2009's 'Invaders Must Die' — will be released at the end of the year.
Speaking to DJ Mag about his new project We Are Noize for a forthcoming feature, Maxim — the band's prowling MC — confirmed that the album will drop at the end of 2014. “That's all I can say,” he said.
Meanwhile, beatsmith Liam Howlett told NME: “It's more violent-sounding; it feels wilder. It's not so much old-skool. It's neither guitar-based not synth-based; it's kind of a mixture. It doesn't feel so radio-friendly to me; it feels like its got a lot of edge.”
The album was rumoured to be called 'How To Steal A Jetfighter', but Howlett stated that it was not going to be named that. The album's title is still unknown.
The Prodigy are still one of the biggest acts on the planet — but they've worked damned hard to get to that position. “A lot of people think we just turned up in ’97 when ‘Firestarter’ was released, but we were touring for seven years before that,” Maxim told DJ Mag.
“We played some shit-holes throughout the world for seven years straight. Driving in the back of an Escort, staying in shitty hotels, but we loved it — we loved touring and doing our shows. We played all the raves throughout the world and throughout the UK, that’s where we came from.”
